As Annur, a warrior of great prowess, lies dying from a fight with slavers after he finally escaped Coldharbour, passes his undying legacy, symbolized by the sword Ethereal, onto Kii-Nam, his reincarnation of many years later.

Now this is amazing. As many people say, the symbolism is powerful here.

I love it!

Oh gosh, this is truly epic! I love the contrast between the dying branches behind Annur's back, and the lush green ones behind Kii-Nam's! And the magical glow of the sword, which casts its light on the mighty roots, and then fades away to rich, enchanting black (on Annur's side especially - my, that shading has taken my breath away!)
And, needless to say, the level of detail on both characters is mind-blowing! The scales, and the soft vulnerable flesh on the inner side of their limbs - and, of course, the outfits! I can just feel those heavy, intricately crafted metal plates pulling Annur down, while Kii-Nam, in turn, is dressed in lighter, less cumbersome attire, which apparently (in my eyes, at least) allows him to move gracefully through the brances.
And of course, the sword itself is designed and drawn just marvelously - huzzah for showing those dastardly straight lines who's boss! :w00t:

Thank you so much!! I was quite excited about the symbolism in this piece- I don't have a lot of it in my pieces, so I'm super excited it turned out well! :) You're a dear to appreciate all those details so thoroughly! :3 Though it gets to be rather hand-cramping, the drawing of scales- both on the bodies and the armour- is kind of meditative! Just like cross-hatching! :D The downside is, when I ink first- which I always do- then paint, I always have to go over everything in ink a second time... :B

Yeah! Those snooty stiff lines learned to fear me and my handy ruler by the end of it all! xD

You are welcome! It's awesome that you got to draw a symbolic piece - I'm really happy that you got such a wonderful commission!
Ahh, I have to agree... It sort of makes the rest of the world fade back into the background, doesn't it? :aww:
You always approach your art so thoroughly, I am never tired of flailing about in amazement! never stop being awesome! :D

The symbolism behind it all is freaking awesome, and how it goes with the cycles of life and death within the Saxhleel culture puts on such adds so much more to this. Thank you so much :excited:

Thank you!! I'm so happy you like it! It was quite a lot of fun to create- quite unlike my other pieces in it's conception. =)
